Black-Owned Innovation: BLK & Bold

BLK & Bold Specialty Beverages is a Black-Owned coffee company founded by Parnell Cezar and Rod Johnson, two best friends from the East Side of Gary, Indiana. BLK & Bold aims to provide customers with quality coffee while also giving back to their community and the youth; also known as the BLK & Bold’s “For Our Youth” Campaign.

BLK & Bold pledges 5% of its profits to nonprofit organizations nationwide that are dedicated to giving America’s children-in-need what is necessary to be the best versions of themselves. This is great because they are using something that most people consume daily in coffee and choosing to give back to the community. This is innovation in snacking, and this is also them sticking to their core values. According to the core values are “quality, convenience, community, and diversity.” This is what BLK & Bold chooses to live by, and with their campaigns throughout the years, they live up to it every day.

Another great thing BLK & Bold did this past year was partner with us at Canteen to create their Recipes for Impact book. This 79 page full-color recipe book strives to give consumers a twist on their coffee recipes while giving 100% of the profits to their “For Our Youth” campaign.
